Political Protest Posters

Brief:
Since the 1960s screen-printing has been used to create political protest posters, starting with the Paris student uprising in 1968 and more recently adopted by street artists such as Shepard Fairey. Its bold, graphic style, low cost and speed of production makes it the perfect print technique for getting your message onto the streets!

In these bizarre political times what is it that makes you most angry? God knows there’s enough to choose from: Brexit, fake news, austerity, climate change, Donald Trump!? If you could display any message to the world what would it be? In this three-week course you will deign and print your own two-colour political protest poster illustrating a chosen quote or slogan.

Approach:
The approach I took on this brief was to look at Theresa May's “strong, stable leadership” election slogan that she gave when she became PM and just put my views that it is all lies surrounding it like in black. I used Open Sans (Labour's Typeface) for the words "Fucking Lies" and I used Lucida Sans (Concervative's Typeface) for the words "Strong, stable, leadership" to differentiate the two political sides.
